Chattisgarh girls walked away with day’s honour on the final day of the 36th Sub junior National Basketball Championships today, at Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.
On its way to title, Chattisgarh were successful in defeating Uttar Pradesh 71-46, to retain the title. Eventual winners dominated the match, and were up by 26-18, at the break.
Chattisgarh owe its victory today to Sangeeta and Saranjeet. The duo did much of the scoring in the match today for their team, to quash UP’s hope of winning the trophy.
Sangeeta netted 22 points, while Saranjeet sunk 20 points.
Varkha and Grima scored 19 and 10 points, respectively, for losers.
Uttar Pradesh boys, however, had a set back in the play off match against Maharashtra. Maharashtra won 53-47. Eventual winners were leading by 20-17 at the break.
Maharashtra girls also did a good job in the tournament today, by claiming third place.
In a play off match, Maharashtra beat Kerala 61-51. Maharashtra girls were leading by 30-27 at the break.

Half time score: 41-28 in favour of Rajasthan.
Girls:
Final: Chattisgarh 71 (Sangeeta 22, Saranjeet 20) bt Uttar Pradesh 46 (Varkha 19, Grima 10).
Third position: Maharashtra 61 (Rupali 23, Sherya 14) bt Kerala 51 (Pooja Mol 20, Elizabeth 12).
