 SUCCESS STORIES

At age 14, Satnam is already one of the country's brighest basketball hopes. He represented Indian in the FIBA Asia U16 Championships at Malaysia in November 2009. Back home took Punjab to the gold medal of the National Youth Championships at Trichy in June. Satnam’s success led him to be recommended by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) to be part of a three-team contingent of Indian youngsters sent to Singapore for the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Asia camp. He was recently chosen amongst the eight students selected by the IMG-Reliance for a scholarship to complete his education and basketball training at the IMG Academies in Bradenton, Floria (USA).

In July 2010, Banerjee became the first Indian referee ever to officiate the Final of a World Championships. He was one of three refs overlooking the final of the FIBA U17 Women's World Championship in Toulouse/Rodez (France). Banerjee became a licensed international referee in 2006. He has taken part in several Asian Championships since, including the final of the 2007 Asian Championship in Bangkok. He was also one of the officials that travelled to Russia for the Women's U-21 World Championship in 2007.
