Results of the semifinals of the 36th sub Junior Natoinal Basketball meet View All Events

Venue : Chittorgarh.

Prankur and Shankar combined well to help Madhya Pradesh outplay Maharasthra 77-61 to book a berth in the boys final of the 36th Sub Junior National Basketball Championships being played at Chittorgarh, Rajasthan.

In a nail-biting contest, both the teams were 26 each at the break, but thereafter MP boys made most of the opportunity to edge past Maharashtra to remain in contention for the title.

For Maharashtra Mohammed Salim Malik and Karthik scored 18 and 11 points, respectively.

But in the first semifinal of the girls groups between Chattisgarh and Kerala, it was easy for former to sail past latter 87-33, to enter the final of the tournament.

Chattisgarh enjoyed a massive lead of 18 points at the break (41-23), and the way Kerala girls played in the remaining period of the match, they never looked like catching up with their rivals.

For Chattisgarh Saranjeet netted 28 points, while Kavita scored 15 points.

Pooja Mol (14) and Elizabeth (8) mainly scored for losers.

Results

Boys:

Madhya Pradesh 77 (Prankur 19, Shankar 16) bt Maharashtra 61 (Mohammed Salim Malik 18, Karthik 11).

Girls:

Chattisgarh 87 (Saranjeet 28, Kavita 15) bt Karnataka 33 (Pooja Mol 14, Elizabeth 8).

In the other semifinals of the girls section, Uttar Pradesh defeated Maharashtra 84-54, to face Chattisgarh in the final tomorrow.

Varkha and Preeti who netted 25 and 28 points, respectively, were the main architect of the team’s victory today.

Uttar Pradesh 84 (Varkha 25, Preeti 28) bt Maharashtra 54 (Rupali 17, Ishwari 9).

Hosts Rajasthan managed to post a 82-48 win over Uttar Pradesh to enter the final of the boys section. Final in both the groups will be played tomorrow.

Rajasthan 82 (Devendra 33, Mahipal Singh 22) bt Uttar Pradesh 48 (Pankaj 15, Prabhat 10).
